  • fitterhood body image is both individual and cultural. not to underestimate the role of genetics and a healthy functioning endocrine system

Why are we so obsessed with the scale?

Because body image, whether positive or negative is both individual and cultural. Plus, never underestimate the huge role of genetics (see Fade) and the part that a healthy endocrine system can play. We construct our body image out of personal opinion, which can be influenced by the opinion of others. Mostly, unsolicited comments from strangers (and some not so strangers) on our physical appearance. I will go as far as saying throw your scale in the garbage. There are things to look at instead of the number on your scale: 1- A Tiny Fit Habit2- Shoes with a swish of style to get out and about in3- This extra tiny…

  • fitterhood on the importance of including strength training into your routine, whatever your goals.

Why pair cardio with strength training?

Why pair cardio with strength training? Cardio is great for burning calories and slimming down, they say. They also say, pair it with strength training to get lean and toned. I discovered sliding time blocking to be my most powerful tool in lock-down.  1-Time blocking: scheduling a specific time in the day to do only one project or task (e.g. 30 minutes workout or stretching) 2- It’s sliding: because life gets in the way, even with the most perfectly planned day, so I allow a flexible time frame to slide…

  • fitterhood and the reasons I exercise

Why is exercising regularly so hard?

Why exercising regularly so hard? One reason is because physical effort is the first thing that comes to our mind at the mention of the word “workout” or “training”? Hence the excuses not to exercise in the first place, let alone regularly. Find your main reason to move, and make sure it is not physical. It helps to draw it. Here’s mine, although I am usually a pretty peaceful person. It doesn’t matter where you begin. Make is sweet and short. Place it in the small circle and start. Sitting around is not an acceptable form of something. Thinking about it for a really long time doesn’t count either. So…
