A little bit more about me
A girl, who married an amazing man and had 3 boys.
I’m also a researcher, curious, and inquisitive by nature. Searching for the truth strikes my innate chord. Somewhere along my life journey, I took a road less travelled as an autism mom. Trying to deliver in all my roles simultaneously: as a woman, a wife, a mother, my corporate career and a doctoral student at that time, I lost sight of the importance of my wellness. When the struggle ended up taking all the space, I experienced the consequences of sacrificing my health in the process.
I hit rock bottom with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, and all the works (SIBO, leaky gut, severe HPA axis dysfunction, etc.). The uncontrollable weight gain and incapacitating fatigue were the cherry on top. Everything had slowed down. My thyroid, as well as every other vital system in my body: my brain, my gut, my muscles, and my heart. Receiving the news of my ILC was like an implosion, everything ripped at once.
I wanted deep healing, and lasting transformation in my life. Managing my autoimmune disease was a central part of the process.
Conventional wisdom (mainstream medical, health, fitness, and dieting) did not have all the answers for me. I needed better answers. My daily uphill battle inspired me to find my fitterhood®. It took applying my doctoral education and tapping into research-based knowledge to understand the imbalances that were creating havoc in my metabolism, because everything is connected to everything. It also meant that I had to have the proper mindset to make better choices day in day out, advocate for myself going forward, and put me back on track after trial-errors and slip ups.
Years later, I gratefully found my way back to my Wellness. A whole protocol is now in place, but mindset is the biggest piece for me. My Wellness is never static. Deep healing integrating mind, body, and spirit with a balanced flow of energy is an ongoing process of choices that I make every day, constantly renewing the gift of awareness. This has become the story of my life.
I also made the aspirational career transition I always knew was my purpose. I founded fitterhood®, a wellness mindset lifestyle brand. I added a certification in professional coaching to my other credentials and recently specialized in the Mind-Brain neuroscience of change and wellness. My programs are science-backed, using behaviour focused design for success, and applying the proprietary ROADMAP™ approach. This method is rooted in mind and brain sciences for regulating states of mind and successful change. It is behaviour-centric, evidence-based, and ethics-led.
I am set on helping other women implement sustainable and meaningful change, disrupt old patterns of behaviour that hold them back, and write their New Wellness Story™.
Because wellness is personal and looks different on you, I invite you to find your own fitterhood® to flourish personally and professionally through wellness, and choose how to live into the next third of your life. To become more of who you are, and do more of what you want.
I still have so much to tell you.
Your New Wellness Story™ is waiting for you.
So why leave your fitterhood® to fate?
On a more personal note:
I LOVE the forest, Shinrin-yoku, all things creative, geeking out on neuroscience, behavioural brain-body science, exercise endocrinology, scientific research, and writing.
When I am not hotly pursuing my fitterhood®, or raising my 3 boys, I help other women connect to their Wellness.
